Going in Grace

How Jesus came back to life matters almost as much as the fact that he did.

When Jesus came back to life, he took his time to lovingly greet Mary, casually walk with two persons who spoke about him without recognizing him, gracefully address Thomas' doubts, and gently encourage and reassure Peter. There is excitement in his return, but no hurry or excessive straining.

Jesus' resurrection return is dripping with the grace of patient, refreshing, and meaningful exchanges and engagements.

The extravagant grace with which Jesus returned to life is a model for our current turbulent and trying reengagement.

In a world characterized by constant, sometimes combative pushing and pulling toward an elusive new normalcy, it is hopeful and inspiring to know that going in grace can greatly ease the personal and collective burden along our new way.
